another lovely YBS church fete

We enjoyed a beautiful sunny afternoon on Saturday in the Manse Garden, with many people of all ages from church and wider community joining us. Besides cream teas, a golfing competition and games for the children as well as the grown-ups, there were ice cream, home baking and Pimms on offer. We had a fabulous raffle and tombola, and were very glad to welcome both the Gifford Horticultural Society and the Gifford Community Woodland team with stalls, too.
And we were so lucky to have three sets of fantastic musicians (all ably supported by Ian Currier on the sound system): the Yester School Band, led by music teacher Kenny Hutchison, Thistlehurt with local musicians Kirsty and Gus Wotherspoon and Ian Fiddes, and Humbie's own Sam Hancock. Claire Gobour, who along with Liz McDougal organised the Fete, said: 'The garden fete on Saturday was a big success as ever. We were lucky that the torrential rain waited until Sunday night! Our fantastic helpers all played a part in ensuring it went logistically, culinarily or entertainment wise smoothly, or even all 3, for which we are very grateful; marvellous team effort!'
