COVID-19 (Coronavirus)

17/3/2020

Firstly, we hope you are well. This is a little note about how we hope to help each other in this time of anxiety around COVID-19 (coronavirus).

Help
If you are self-isolating, and would like any help (eg with getting shopping or prescriptions) or simply would like to talk to somebody, please get in touch (01620 811193). We have a team of people happy to help.

Equally, if you would like to help our neighbours at this time, please also let me know.

We are working closely with the Community Councils in this regard.

Services
Our services are available on our websites on Sunday morning, for you to follow if you wish.

Sound recordings of the services are available on CD - if you would like to receive one, please get in touch with me or Paul Sales (01620 811260).

Events

All planned events and meetings have been postponed until the situation changes.

Helping more widely
If you do go to the shops, please consider getting an extra item for East Lothian Foodbank, who are struggling at this time to provide for those in need. Collection trolleys can for example be found in Tesco in Haddington.

We hope this is helpful - please do get in touch if you need any help and support.

Best wishes,
Anikó

Messy Church POSTPONED

13/3/2020

Picture
Due to the current health concerns, we have decided to postpone our Messy Church this Sunday. A new date will be arranged as soon as possible. We're very sorry for any disappointment!

What do you see as the future of our church?

5/3/2020

Picture
Lothian Presbytery (the area body of the Church of Scotland for East and Midlothian)  is producing proposals for the future ministry in our counties, in light of the significant decline in the number of ministers, and smaller congregations throughout Scotland. Change for any church would only take place with the minister's agreement or when the minister leaves. There are a range of options for Yester, Bolton and Saltoun Church, including moving to part-time ministry and/ or joining in with neighbouring congregations.
We are invited to respond to the initial options and propose any others we would like considered, over the next few weeks. To help us in this process, we'd like to hear the views of the congregation and the wider community, and  invite you to join us for a consultation meeting on Thursday, 16 April, 7pm, in Gifford Village Hall.

This consultation is open to all who are interested, whether or not you are a member of the church, and we would warmly welcome views from within the church congregation, and the wider community. If you are unable to come along, you are also welcome to send us your views in writing, or to speak to John or Anikó.
