NEWS

Thank you to all who supported the Musical Evening!

21/8/2017

We've had a fabulous Musical Evening with the Haddington Players on Sunday, 20 August, in the Flower Show Marquee in Gifford. We're very grateful to the band for giving us such an enjoyable concert, the Gifford Horticultural Society for lending us the marquee, Ian Currier for his technical support, and to our lovely Social Planning Team who prepared and ran the event (with fizz, juice, strawberries and cream on offer!).

And a special thanks to everyone who came along to listen to the band, support us in this fundraising evening, and enjoyed their picnics and even a spot of a Gay Gordons!

Very successful fundraising event

14/8/2017

On Friday, 11 August, a Whisky Tasting event was held in aid of the Saltoun Church Ceiling Appeal. David Hogg, the son of two of our members led all participants in an exploration of different flavours and depths, and a quiz and games added to the fun of the evening. Members of the Fundraising Team had also ensured fabulous catering to go with the whisky.

In total, £844 were raised on the evening. Well done everyone involved, and thank you very much to all who supported it!

Musical Evening 20 August

3/8/2017

On Sunday, 20 August, we'll have another Musical Evening in the Flower Show Marquee, which the Gifford Horticultural Society has very kindly offered for the occasion, this time with the Haddington Players.

Come along at 7pm, for a 7.30pm start, and bring along a chair or blanket, and a picnic or nibbles as you like.

Fizz, strawberries and cream will be provided, and donations on the evening will be gratefully received.

We hope to see you there!

Richmond's Hope: A Mile of Memories

2/8/2017

Richmond's Hope is a charity based in Edinburgh, helping children and young people who have lost a family member.

They are doing amazing, life-changing work, and have supported families through bereavement for over ten years. While their work in Edinburgh, Midlothian, and Glasgow is local authority funded, they currently don't receive support for helping children from other areas, and so this work relies heavily on fundraising.

And they have a big fundraising event coming up in September! And you can help:
  • By signing up for the event;
  • You then receive a wooden memory stick to decorate it in memory of somebody who has passed away, and to fill the groove at the top of the stick with up to 45 £1 coins - ask your friends and family to fill it!
  • Once the groove is full you return the stick and coins to Richmond's Hope,
  • and then, on 23 September, your stick will be laid alongside all the others on Portobello Promenade, to create a Mile of Memories.
