Once again the local community are organising Carols around the Christmas Tree, in front of Yester Church, this year taking place on Sunday 18 December, 6.30pm.
Popular carols like 'Once in royal David's city' and 'Joy to the world' will be accompanied by the Dalkeith and Monkton Brass Band, and there will be a collection in aid of the Arthritis and Rheumatism Council. The carols will be followed by mulled wine and soft drinks, and there might just be a visit from Father Christmas.... Come along and join in! After a trial period over the summer, the Kirk Session decided to continue to hold only one Sunday service in the parish, alternating between the villages. This is going very well – with transport links between the villages available (if this would be of help to you, please contact Anikó). However, the service time of 11.30am has proved to be very late for some of you, as you expressed in the survey done in August. After consultation with the Humbie Kirk Session, we are therefore pleased to be able to bring our service time forward to 11am, starting from Christmas. We hope that this is a compromise that suits you, and very much hope that you will help us to make this change work.
