More Church of Scotland Enews

20/12/2016

At the beginning of December, the Joint Public Issues Team (of which the Church of Scotland is a member) launched a short film called A Very British Nativity. It imagines what sort of welcome Mary and Joseph would receive if they came to the UK, instead of Bethlehem, this year. View the film on the JPIT website. This, and other news from the Church and Society Council, can be found here
The latest newsletter from Scottish Faiths Action for Refugees is available here.
And publications and newsletters from many other areas of work of the Church of Scotland can be found here.

Change to Service Times

19/12/2016

Please remember: from this coming Sunday, our service time is changed to 11am - starting on Christmas Day. For further information on our services, please see our worship page.

Carols around the Christmas Tree

7/12/2016

Once again the local community are organising Carols around the Christmas Tree, in front of Yester Church, this year taking place on Sunday 18 December, 6.30pm.

Popular carols like 'Once in royal David's city' and 'Joy to the world' will be accompanied by the Dalkeith and Monkton Brass Band, and there will be a collection in aid of the Arthritis and Rheumatism Council. The carols will be followed by mulled wine and soft drinks, and there might just be a visit from Father Christmas....

Come along and join in!

A change to the service time - from Christmas

6/12/2016

After a trial period over the summer, the Kirk Session decided to continue to hold only one Sunday service in the parish, alternating between the villages. This is going very well – with transport links between the villages available (if this would be of help to you, please contact Anikó). However, the service time of 11.30am has proved to be very late for some of you, as you expressed in the survey done in August. After consultation with the Humbie Kirk Session, we are therefore pleased to be able to bring our service time forward to 11am, starting from Christmas. We hope that this is a compromise that suits you, and very much hope that you will help us to make this change work.
